Advised Midas Group on its investment in Palmpay's series A financing



Cosmic Ocean is pleased to announce that the company acted as buyside-advisor for Midas Group on their investment in series A financing round of Palmpay, a mobile payment product focusing on the African market. The transaction was closed in August 2021, with total financing amount of US$100 million. This round of financing was jointly led by  CCV and another sovereign fund; other co-investors include Seas Capital, Trustbridge Partners, MediaTek, Chengyu Capital and North Africa's well-known private equity fund AfricaInvest.

Since starting operations in 2019, Palmpay has actively expanded the African E-payment market. It has operations in Nigeria and Ghana, and obtained relevant licenses in Tanzania, Kenya and other countries. Palmpay provides individual users with convenient and low-cost services such as money transfers, top ups, and E-payment to meet their diverse payment needs. At the same time, it provides merchants with online payment and offline POS acquiring services, and gradually introduces digital marketing services for merchants.

Midas Group is a private equity/venture capital firm with presence in both Taiwan and Mainland China. It focuses its investment in three main sectors, include information technology, high end manufacturing, and healthcare. Its track record includes acquisition of Microlife, which was the biggest LBO deal in Taiwan for years.
